Breast Cancer 3-Day 2009

We are very happy here because we can see the Capitol - our final destination!

Team Giddy Up is recovering from walking 60 miles for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. It was an amazing journey and we had a blast along the way. It was challenging at times, but we worked our way through it. We are all so proud to have participated in this event and couldn't have done it without all of the support from our family and friends. Here is a sneak peek at our weekend. We will post more when we have the energy!

Eat your peas!

My dear friend Alyssa asked me to post this to our blog. She wanted me to share with you some very important information about eating your fruits and vegtables and how doing so has proven to be huge prevention of cancer.

The antioxidants in fruits and vegtables are measured with an ORAC score (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity). By getting 7-9 servings of fruits and veggies, you are taking in an ORAC score of 4500. Cancer cannot live in your body with 6000 ORAC units - this is a scientific fact; which means every one of us should up that dose of fruits and veggies....

You can find some additional information at Vitamin D3 World.

What's that saying....knowledge is power?!

Kelli

PS. If you're not sure how to get those extra fruits and veggies....Alyssa is a MonaVie distributor and would love to share more with you. Please contact me for her information at kelli3day@gmail.com.

And then there were three.....

YEAH!!! Sheila Singer has joined team Giddy Up!

We are so thrilled to have Sheila join us in this journey. Over the next few days we will be updating our blog to include all of Sheila's information. In the mean time, if you would like to donate to her personally, please visit www.the3day.org and search for Sheila Singer.

Welcome Sheila!!!

A remarkable journey

Hello Friends!

We have taken on an incredible challenge. On August 21st, we'll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with us.

It’s for an event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Every advancement in breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention in the last 25 years has been touched by a Komen for the Cure grant. They are working hard to build a future without breast cancer, and we plan on raising $2,300to help bring us closer to that goal.

Please consider making a donation. Even spare change will help. Also ask your employer if they will double your donation with a matching gift.

We are doing this for the women we've known over the years who have had to battle this horrible cancer. Some have won and some have lost. We are doing this for anyone who know's someone who has gone through this battle. We are doing this for all women who have survived or lost their battle. W are doing this for our future, our childrens future, and the future of all women so that one day a 3-day walk is no longer needed. We are doing this for Kelli's Grandma Pat - a 20+ year survivor, Liz, Betsy, Jody, Jennifer, Denise, Marlene and Margaret. Without a cure, one in eight women in the U.S. will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer. That’s why we're walking in the 3-Day. Because everyone deserves a lifetime.

To make a donation, go to http://www.the3day.org/. Click on Donate Now and search for our team fundraising page. If you would prefer to write a personal check, please make it payable to "Breast Cancer 3-Day" and mail/give to one of us. We would like to reach our fundraising goal by August 1st, so please don’t delay!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Team Giddy Up
Kelli & Crystal

P.S. Don’t wait - donate today!
